《亚太设计年鉴》自创办十八年以来，以“成为亚太地区专业设计的文献记录”为使命，通过专业、多维度的视角寻找具有时代意义的作品，记录亚太地区平面设计的发展。2022年《第十八届亚太设计年鉴》进行了全新改版，对一本历经18年的设计年鉴来说，改变也意味着新生。
Since its inception 18 years ago, Asia Pacific Design Annual has been dedicated to its mission of documenting professional design in the Asia-Pacific region. Through a professional and multi-dimensional lens, it seeks out works of contemporary significance, chronicling the evolution of graphic design across the Asia-Pacific. The 2022 edition, marking the 18th anniversary of APD, underwent a complete redesign, symbolizing a rebirth for a design annual with such a long-standing history.
书籍以蓝色为主基调，仿佛一阵来自太平洋的清新海风扑面而来。选用纸张现有的色彩来替代印刷的基色，蓝色基调成为APD18的视觉记忆。设计以“捕捞”作为创意点，把征集作品的方式比喻成捕捞作品的概念。a、p、d三个字母转化成“网”的形式，并通过绣线工艺在封面进行编织，将概念具象化。材料的应用，增强了封面的质感。
The book’s primary color palette is blue, evoking a refreshing breeze from the Pacific Ocean. Instead of using printed background color, the natural color of the selected paper is utilized, making the blue tone a defining visual element of APD18. The design concept revolves around the metaphor of “fishing,” likening the process of collecting submissions to casting a net for exceptional works. The letters “a,” “p,” and “d” are transformed into a net-like form, which is then woven into the cover using embroidery techniques, bringing the concept to life. This material application enhances the tactile quality of the cover.
书籍开本由原来的8开改成了16开，虽然开本变小了，但设计作品的呈现效果并没有打折扣。改版前，一件作品用8开单页呈现，改版后则用16开的跨页，书籍厚度随之也有所增加。从读者阅读体验出发，虽开本变小，但分量依旧。
The book’s format was changed from the original 8k to a smaller 16k size. Despite this reduction, the presentation of the design works remains uncompromised. Previously, each work was displayed on a single 8k page; now, each one spans across a 16k spread, which has also increased the book’s thickness. This adjustment, rooted in enhancing the reader’s experience, ensures that while the physical Size have been reduced, the weight and impact of the content remain substantial.
